Lotion Tips

I think I tan better without a lotion, so why should I use one?

This belief can easily be resolved once clients actually understand the tanning process.  Indoor tanning and UV exposure can be dehydrating to the skin. Using a lotion will help to replenish the moisture that has been depleted during the tanning session, thereby improving your results.  Not only will you get a darker tan, you will tan more quickly and your tan will last longer. In addition, indoor tanning lotions contain specific ingredients that promote tanning and melanin synthesis, and can reduce the appearance of everything from fine lines and wrinkles to cellulite!

How are tanning salon lotions better than what I can purchase at the drugstore or supermarket?

Over-the-counter lotions do not contain the necessary ingredients that will maximize your tanning results and extend the life of your tan. Moreover, mass market products do not effectively replenish any lost moisture that occurs during the tanning process. The lotions that we offer at No Sand Tan are specifically for indoor tanning.

What is a tingle?

A tingle lotion helps increase blood circulation, thus improving the oxygenation of your skin cells. The increased level of oxygen helps accelerate your tan. Using a tingle lotion will make your skin temporarily red and blotchy and make you feel a hot, tingling sensation that will usually subside after an hour or so. Your skin needs oxygen to tan so the more oxygen your skin gets, the darker you will get! We recommend that only experienced tanners use tingle lotions.

Effective January 1, 2012, the minimum age for UV-light tanning in California will increase to 18. There is no age limit on UV-free spray tanning.
